DAVAO CITY, Philippines — The Iranun Development Council (IDC) convened its Second Regular Council Meeting on January 23, 2026, at Dusit Thani Hotel in Davao City, following an institutional strengthening activity held the previous day focused on detailed planning across the council’s thematic development areas.

The meeting gathered the municipal mayors of the four IDC member municipalities: Parang Mayor Cahar P. Ibay, Matanog Mayor Zohria S. Bansil-Guro, Buldon Mayor Pahmia A. Manalao-Masurong, and Barira Mayor Abdul Rauf D. Tomawis.

Also present were vice mayors Abdul Aziz T. Ali of Parang, Sanaira I. Ali-Imam of Matanog, and Abolais A. Manalao of Buldon, along with municipal focal persons, alternates, and members of the Technical Working Groups (TWGs), who actively participated in the discussions and proceedings.

A key highlight of the meeting was the election of the IDC leadership. Mayor Cahar P. Ibay of Parang was elected IDC Chairperson, while Mayor Zohria S. Bansil-Guro of Matanog was elected IDC Vice Chairperson.

The Alliance Management Office (AMO) prepared council resolutions to formalize key decisions, agreements, and action points arising from the meeting.

The session concluded with a renewed commitment among member local government units to strengthen inter-municipal collaboration, advance shared development priorities, and further institutionalize the IDC as a cohesive and strategic alliance for the benefit of Iranun communities. The meeting and preceding institutional strengthening activity were supported by the Institute for Autonomy and Governance (IAG), with funding assistance from the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen inter-LGU governance and cooperation in the region.
