PARANG, Maguindanao, Philippines — The Iranun Development Council (IDC) held its First Formal Convening on June 5, 2025, at the Iranun Palace Conference Hall in Parang, marking a key step in strengthening the council’s institutional governance and coordination among member local government units (LGUs).

The meeting was presided over by IDC Chairperson Mayor Cahar Ibay of Parang and attended by Mayor Zohria S. Bansil-Guro of Matanog, Mayor Pahmia A. Manalao-Masurong of Buldon, and Mayor Abdul Rauf D. Tomawis of Barira.

During the session, the council approved several key resolutions, including the adoption of the official IDC logo, the manual of operations, and the appointment of its key administrative officials: Executive Director Saipona U. Zaman and Deputy Executive Director May N. Quesada.

Development partners also attended the convening in support of the initiative, including the Institute for Autonomy and Governance (IAG), The Asia Foundation (TAF), Galing Pook Foundation (GPF), the Consortium of Bangsamoro Civil Society (CBCS) through the SHIELD Program, and Climate Conflict Action (CCA), alongside members of the IDC Secretariat.

Following the recently concluded elections, re-elected members of the IDC Executive Committee reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining and advancing the council’s programs, with a shared vision of building a more livable Iranun Corridor. The activity was supported by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), which continues to fund initiatives aimed at strengthening inter-LGU collaboration and governance in the Bangsamoro region.
