Various community sectors across the five-member municipalities of the Iranun Development Council (IDC) actively participated in a series of Local Stakeholder and Community Consultations for Targeted Development Interventions conducted by the Institute for Autonomy and Governance (IAG).

The consultations brought together representatives from civil society organizations, the private sector, academe, solo mothers and women’s groups, in-school and out-of-school youth, persons with disabilities, farmers and fisherfolk, indigenous peoples, traditional leaders, barangay officials, and members of the Sangguniang Bayan.

According to organizers, the activity was designed to ensure that project interventions funded by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) are responsive to the specific needs and priorities of each municipality. The consultations also aimed to strengthen inclusivity and community participation in local development planning and implementation.

Insights gathered from the consultations will guide the rollout of capacity development trainings this year, particularly on livelihood programs covering aquaculture, fisheries and marine resources, food processing, agriculture, and livestock production. These will be complemented by feasibility studies aligned with priorities identified by local communities. The initiative forms part of ongoing efforts by the Institute for Autonomy and Governance to support inter-LGU collaboration and strengthen sustainable, community-driven development across IDC member municipalities.
